When I started in trucking at Werner Enterprise back in 05, trucking was all paper logging. This was good and bad, Good for the truck drivers who wanted to break the rules but bad for truck drivers who did not want to break the law. Companies that had fleets were all the drivers were breaking the rules push freight at a unrealistic pace. Rookies or just average drivers, who could not keep up which usually ended in a accidents. Paper logging dose not equal illegal truck driving but the door is open, with a sleepy driver next to a family or a big company making millions off a fleet of drivers breaking the rules. Check the podcast.

This is because of the hard job that many truck driver trainers do. Trucking companies hire lazy students who think trucking is easy. Trucking has a high turnover rate do to the hard lifestyle we live.
